Situated in West Dorset this is an ideal base for exploring the county. Steep-sided valleys, small family farms much as things were in Thomas Hardy’s novels. Visit his birthplace at Higher Bockhampton—near the county town of Dorchester.
The Heritage Coastline is within easy reach by car, from picturesque Lyme Regis to Lulworth Cove there are plenty of places to visit. the famous Swannery at Abbotsbury, Charmouth for fossil hunting, or Weymouth’s safe sandy beach. Inland is Cerne Abbas with the hillside giant, to the north is Shaftesbury with Gold Hill– setting of the Hovis advert . A variety of Historic Houses, Gardens, and Museums can be found in a 30 mile radius. Beaminster is 3 miles away with a good selection of shops. In the village of Corscombe is the Fox Inn, an award winning pub.
